Alexandria City (County), Virginia, Inmate Search

Generally, correctional facilities often maintain a system or database of inmate booking information and may make some basic information available online through rosters and public search tools.

However, in Alexandria City, the Sheriff’s Office that manages the only adult detention center does not offer online access to inmate information. Additionally, victims’ access to inmate updates through VINELink is also unavailable as the agency transitions to another jail management system. Instead, persons may make phone inquiries to find persons in custody and obtain public information concerning the inmate, charge(s), bond amount, and court date.

Alexandria City is also home to the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. However, online inmate search tools for juveniles are not available in line with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. Finding persons placed into this center may prove difficult, as juvenile information is mostly confidential, except for certain violent felony cases involving juveniles 14 years of age or older.
